Celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight 2015 with Great Food at Leeds (23 February – 8 March 2015)

It has been 10 years since the University of Leeds obtained Fairtrade status and since then our passion about Fairtrade has continued to grow.

Fairtrade Fortnight is an annual campaign which aims to celebrate the impact of Fairtrade and a reminder of the dramatic difference choosing Fairtrade makes. To learn more about the social, economical and environmental impact that choosing Fairtrade products makes you can visit the Fairtrade website.

This year the Fairtrade Fortnight is primarily focusing on three key commodities – cocoa, sugar, and tea. Great Food at Leeds is proud to offer Fairtrade chocolate, sugar and tea as well a number of other products so you know with each purchase of these items you will be helping to support Fairtrade.

Fairtrade Fair – 3rd March 2015

We hope you had chance to visit our Great Food at Leeds stall at the Fairtrade Fair on the 3rd March. As well as providing some tasty Fairtrade treats and visitors had a chance to win some great prizes in a host of competitions. Further to our support of Fairtrade products on the stall all donations and stall contributions will go to Macmillan Cancer Support and Martin House Hospice. Staff from the various services within the Facilities Directorate have come together to support two charities for 2015; Martin House Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support, and this event has helped to raise money for these worthwhile charities.

Banoffee Sponge Recipe

One of the big hits at the fair was our Fairtrade Banoffee Sponge made by our Great Food at Leeds chefs and after many requests they’ve decided to share their secret recipe! View the recipe here.
