What is the Meal Plan package?
Your Meal Plan credit is loaded onto your account daily for you to spend that day. Students are given their card upon arrival in their Hall of Residence. All the information you need is below, but you can also print off or save a handy PDF guide on Meal Plan here
Lost or wrong card?
We understand that some Meal Plan customers have received the wrong card. To remedy this, you will need to hand in your wrong card to the Refectory where you will receive your card or a replacement. If you receive a blank replacement card, you will need to log into your online account using your University email address and mark your original card as lost before attaching your new card by inputting the new card number.

To save the trouble of carrying your Meal Plan card, the handy mobile app works just the same whilst allowing you to keep track of your credit. You must ensure when you register that you use your university email address, otherwise you won’t have your meal plan credit. Before logging into the app, register online using your University of Leeds email address.

The Meal Plan & Refresh Card
To make University life that little bit easier we’ve combined Meal Plan and Refresh in one convenient card.
Meal Plan Package – During term we top up your daily Meal Plan credit in to your Meal Plan purse to be spent at the Refectory and Hugo, the Camionnette Café at selected times.
Refresh Loyalty – The University loyalty scheme allows you to add additional money to the Refresh purse on your card which can be spent at all Great Food at Leeds cafes. With Refresh you get discounts, free hot drinks, exclusive offers and collect points when using your Meal Plan & Refresh card!
What do I need to do when I receive my card?
Your card will be waiting for you in your Accommodation and will be given to you when you pick up your keys. Your card will already be activated and ready for you to use. Just head to the Refectory or Hugo and pay using your daily Meal Plan credit.
To view your account online and to top up your Refresh credit log in here. Log in with your University email address and change your password when prompted. If visiting our Mobile site then scroll to the bottom of your screen to set your password. After entering your email you will then receive an email with a link to click on to set your password.

What times can it be used?
The Meal Plan Package can be used at the following times:
Weekdays: 08:00 – 19:00 Weekends: 10:00 – 14:00
Term dates for 2017 are: Term 2 = Sat 7th January- 25th March, Term 3 = Saturday 22nd April- 17th June
How much money do I get?
Students will receive the following credit:
Each day during term time the credit is loaded onto the Refresh card to be spent that day.
Any unspent balance will not be carried forward to future days.
Can I spend more than the daily value on my card?
Yes! If you want to spend more money then you can use cash at the till or top up your Refresh purse with additional credit. The easiest way to top up your Refresh purse is through Auto Top Up – never be without credit again!
Where can the meal plan be used?
The Refectory offers a wide range of hot and cold food each day which is freshly prepared by our award winning chefs on campus. Choose from fresh salads, homemade soup, jacket potatoes, pizza, pasta dishes and our exciting Street Food section offering authentic food from around the world. That’s just the start of it, keep an eye out for our daily speacials too!
The Refectory is located next to the Students Union at the heart of campus.
Hugo is conveniently located on the main precinct so you can grab a bite for breakfast/lunch or a snack on the go.
What are the two purses?
Your Meal Plan & Refresh card contains two purses, which are two separate credits:
1. Meal Plan Package
Credit added each day.
2. Regular Refresh Discount Card
This is available for all students so they can add credit themselves. The Refresh credit is available to use at all cafés on campus and gives you discounts on selected food and drink, exclusive monthly offers, free hot drinks and collect points. You may wish to add credit to this purse in addition to your Meal Plan Package and you can do this by logging in to your account online. What happens if the Refectory is closed for an event?
Sometimes the Refectory is used for an event and this means it may be closed. All members will be sent an email informing them of this and with the option of collecting a take away meal for that day.
What if I can’t get to the Refectory before 7pm?
If on certain days you won’t be able to get to the Refectory before 7pm then you can inform the duty manager before 11 am that day and they will arrange for a packaged meal to be made up for your collection.
What if I lose my card?
If you lose your card then you can log onto your Refresh account online here to cancel your card immediately, this will ensure no one can use your card or spend any money. You then simply need to pick up a new card from the Refectory and add the new card to your account online. All Meal Plan Package students may have one replacement card free of charge and any further cards will incur a £10 charge. Care of your card
The card has a microchip embedded in it. Please take care not to damage the card – it should not be bent, punctured or defaced in any way. Do not attach your card to a keyring. You may be charged for a replacement card. Remember not to sit on a card stored in your back pocket.

Some small print
- Your card cannot be used to purchase alcohol or tobacco products.
- The University will not be responsible for any losses incurred on lost or stolen cards.
- Cards are not transferable and should only be used by the registered cardholder.
- The University retains the right to freeze cards not being used by the registered cardholder.
- If you leave the University you must return your card to a member of Catering staff.
- The University accepts no liability if unable to accept card payments due to technical problems.
- Misuse of the card will result in disciplinary action being taken.
