Great Food at Leeds always strive to use quality, local and seasonal ingredients in all of our food.  We use ethically sourced products whenever possible and are passionate about bringing you great tasting meals.

Gluten-Free Accreditation

Gluten-Free Accreditation

In June 2015 the Refectory was awarded the Gluten-Free accreditation from Coeliac UK.

The Refectory was praised for the selection of gluten-free options including, Handmade Pizza, Cottage Pie, African Beef Curry and Rice Pudding and safe processes in the kitchen when preparing and serving gluten-free food.

Ian Addy, Catering Operations Manager at the University of Leeds said that “Through their Gluten-Free accreditation scheme Coeliac UK have helped us understand all the relevant processes needed to cater gluten-free and we’re delighted to be able to give our students that added reassurance.”

The Gluten-Free accreditation aims to make eating away from home stress free for people with coeliac disease, it is awarded to organisations that have proven their ability to safely cater for those with the condition. For more information visit the Coeliac UK Website.

Food for the Brain Accreditation

The University of Leeds is proud to have been awarded the ‘Food for the Brain’ Nutritional Accreditation for the 6th year in a row.

The Great Food at Leeds team were praised for their impressive focus on sustainability, seasonality and provenance of products with 45% of suppliers being within 20 miles of the University. They were also complimented for their expanding range of gluten free products and continued enthusiasm and commitment to Food for the Brain and healthy eating. Other areas of praise were the quality of snacks and drink, high fibre content and low levels of processed fats, artificial additives and essential fats. Food for the Brain is a charitable foundation working to inform, educate and empower individuals to change their diet and lifestyle and take greater control of their own mental health. For more information visit the Food for the Brain website.
